Jordan Becker

The Becker Family hesitated initially about sharing this update, but as we’ve opened up to more people, the outpouring of prayers and support has been truly heartwarming. Not only does it bring us comfort, but we hope by sharing the journey, this might offer solace to other families facing similar challenges. Of course, this is with my consent.
It all began when I started experiencing knee pain. Like any kid, I mentioned occasional aches and pains, and initially, I didn’t’ think much of it nor did my family. We went in for an X-ray, which didn’t reveal much. I then embarked on some physical therapy, but unfortunately, the pain persisted and intensified. This led to an MRI, followed by a triple phase bone scan, yet the underlying cause remained elusive.
On May 15th, our family’s world shifted dramatically as I underwent a bone biopsy. The subsequent day, May 16*, delivered the news that my family’s handsome 18-year-old son (Jordan) had been diagnosed with fibroscarcoma.
This type of malignant tumor originated in the connective fibrous tissue of my upper tibia.
Beginning on May 20th, I immediately commenced chemotherapy, marking the start of a summer spent navigating in and out of Nicklaus Children’s Hospital. Each treatment required up to five days of stay, accompanied by my dedicated mom. My dad has been shouldering extra responsibilities to support the family of five during this challenging time.
Miraculously, on August 8th,the tumor was successfully removed. I underwent a full knee replacement, accompanied by the placement of a metal plate at the tumor’s former site. My leg’s movement has been restricted for a couple months while I relearn to walk.
My journey continues with ongoing chemotherapy treatments scheduled at this point until the end of the year 2023. This process has unfortunately impacted both me and my mother’s ability to work.
As the medical bills mount and responsibilities weigh heavily, it’s been very difficult on my family and especially my dad to provide for the family financially. Establishing a support system through your organization can alleviate our current financial strain-one less thing for us to worry about during this time.
Despite these obstacles, I was able to attend my high school graduation, a cherished moment that my family and I hold dearly. Looking forward, once this ordeal is over, I plan to commence my college journey.
Your prayers and positive thoughts for my journey are deeply appreciated. My determination and strength shine through, and together, I believe I can overcome this challenge with unwavering resolve. Thank you very much for your support.

Sincerely, Jordan Becker

UPDATE:

Update- Unfortunately Jordan’s cancer has relapsed after 8 months of being in remission. He will have to go intensive chemo and surgery for the next 6 months. This will make another huge strain on his family because his mom will be in staying with him weeks at a time in Miami while dad helps with the other 2 children.
